"Honestly, I've never experienced writer's block. I'd write constantly if I could. What is most difficult for me is having to "shelve" my writing for other responsibilities. It's always there, waiting for me, nagging at me. My characters grow restless. That's when the 2, or 3, or 4 a.m. dash to the computer hits, and I cram in as much as I can before other obligations rear up and another day dawns." ~Jennifer Olmstead

About Jennifer

Jennifer Olmstead was born in Danville, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Mary Ann, and spent her early childhood in a restored Victorian home. After her father, a Navy officer who served on a destroyer during WWII and later became a research pathologist, accepted a position with a medical center in Pittsburgh, the family moved to a 17-acre farm outside the city. She grew up riding and showing pleasure horses and making annual summer visits to her maternal grandparents' home in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. After attending The Pittsburgh Academy, Chatham College and the University of Pittsburgh, she relocated to Virginia and began a career as a non-profit executive. In addition to her fiction writing projects, she continues to work in the non-profit field. She lives with her horses, dogs and other family members on a farm in rural southernmost Virginia.

"Although I am a lifelong reader, I'm not certain I would have become a writer if I hadn't smuggled a copy of THIS SIDE OF PARADISE out my parent's book case at age 12. Swept away by the capture of the era, the contradictions and conflict, and, yes, resolution. I was hooked. The feel of the books have stayed with my for decades. This remains my favorite. My son's middle name? Amory, as is Amory Blaine. That was a conscious choice. The character of "Blaine" MacGearailt, in my book MEN AMONG SIRENS? That was Fitzgerald's story forever hovering in my subconscious." ~Jennifer Olmstead
